Medico-Legal Experience
I have acted as a medical expert from 1999 and have prepared medicolegal reports on 8 cases over the past 5 years, with attendance at court required on 1 occasion. In the 4 most recent cases I have prepared the report as joint expert. In the other 4 cases I have acted for the Claimant thrice and Defendant once. Several of these cases have involved soft-tissue injury as a result of accidents,
primarily road accidents. The other cases stretch across the breadth of neurology including cervical radiculomyelopathies, epilepsy, blackouts and the functional consequences of brain tumours.
Research and Publications:
I have carried out research in stroke, vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease since 1988 and have written 28 refereed papers, reports, review articles and editorials, 5 published research letters, 20 abstracts and posters, 16 book chapters and am the editor of one book published by Oxford University Press in 2004.
