Medico Legal Experience
I have been a consultant
orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital since 1997.
My sub specialist interest is complex limb trauma and limb
reconstruction following major injury. Together with a consultant colleague I
run the Limb reconstruction unit at Hope hospital.
As well as treating the local population, I am
referred many patients by other orthopaedic consultants throughout the north west of England and north Wales.
The conditions I commonly treat are unhealed
fractures, bone infections, difficult fractures and limb shortening due to
trauma. Because of the nature of my practice, I also have an experience in
treating amputees.
I am an honorary lecturer in surgery at the University of Manchester. As a lecturer I teach both medical students and post graduates
students.
I have undertaken medico legal work for nearly
twelve years. The majority of referrals to me are for personal injury, but I
have also done some medical negligence work. I have prepared over a thousand reports during this
period.
